Pay per click advertising, or PPC advertising,
is a type of advertising on the Internet, which is becoming
more and more popular, because of its assured benefits.
It is not just another corner of the page video, or
flash game; it gives actual results. The basic idea
behind PPC advertising is that the person using the
ads, or making them, pays a certain amount to the publisher,
or publishers, of the ad for every successful click
they receive from that person's website. Basically,
with a PPC program the advertisements from all the different
advertisers are set up, and designed to revolve around
a per click bid amount that the person that is going
to be displaying the ads, has agreed to pay. The higher
the per click amount, generally means that the particular
ad will be displayed top most of all the other ads,
and will also be displayed more often than the others.
The programs for PPC are offered on various search engines,
and on most of the major ones, along with the better,
--in comparison to fleeting, here and gone networks,
and more well-founded advertising networks. A few of
the most prominent are discussed in this article.
Google
Adwords by Google is one of the most popular pay
per click advertising programs. The main attraction
to the Google Adwords program is how simple it is.
Sites can cover pretty much anything, except for adult
photos, and text, pornographic websites, etc, and
can still use Adwords to their advantage, with only
a small fee of five dollars to join. After joining
all that is left really to do, is a simple, guided
series of steps further explained in the actual process.
The advertiser write the ad, or ads they want to use,
set a per click bid, known as Cost Per Click, or CPC,
and then instantly gets the ads listed.
Being as that Google is one of the most popular advertising
networks there are, Google ads appear on a staggering
number of popular search engines, such as, Google
itself of course, Ask Jeeves, AOL, Netscape, Dealtime,
AT&T, Worldnet, Earthlink, Teoma, Compuserve,
and many others as well. Also, Google also shows ads
on websites that are participants in Google's completely
free ad program for webmasters, called "Adsense."
Adverts are also displayed on blogspot blogs. Also,
with Google, there is very little chance of ever getting
completely random ads on your website; Google ads
are always extremely relevant to what the content
of the page includes, so that results from searches,
or ads on blogs will bring in more of the targeted
traffic. When making ads with Google, the advertiser
is given hundreds of options. When it comes to choosing
what will be in their ads, where to put them, how
much per click to pay, and many others besides. Not
to mention the additional bonus that Google readjusts
itself automatically, and reduces or increases the
bids based on the competition. Which of course, relieves
some of the pressure on the advertiser, for having
to do the job of going over the bid gaps regularly.
Along with all of these features, Google also gives
understandable and readable reporting, so that the
advertiser will stay informed, and can manage a campaign
more easily.
Overture
Another powerful PPC program is called Overture Precision
Match. It is similar to the Google Adwords program,
and can reach a wide range of audiences, distributing
to target traffic as the advertiser would prefer.
Ads for Precision Match are displayed on and throughout
the very large Overture network, including Altavista,
Go2Net, MSN, Netzero, Away Network, Excite, InfoSpace,
Sympatico.ca, Dogpile, Yahoo, Cool Savings, ESPN,
Homestore Network, the Wall Street Journal website,
Edmunds, MyFamily Network... As you can see, the Overture
network is enormous, so any ads purchased, and displayed
throughout their network would be circulated in various
places, and the benefits of such a large network of
sites are numerous.
Another outstanding benefit of the Overture advertising
program, is called Content Match, which is a service
much like Precision Match, in that it shows PPC ads
that are bear somewhat matching articles, and reviews
of relevant products. Presently being offered by Overture,
along with Precision Match, and Content Match, is
another ad service called Local Match. This service
helps the advertisers using it to reach customers
in their local areas for search queries that are made
for a specific area. This works for pretty much everywhere,
so no matter where your customers might be located,
you can help them find something nearby. You can also
target other areas with the service as well. Another
similarity Overture shares with Google, is that it
offers a wide, flexible range of ads to construct,
and options.
Kanoodle
Another PPC advertising program, called Kanoodle,
combines three excellent types of advertising techniques.
These advert displays are based on keyword targeting,
context targeting, and behaviour targeting. With these
programs Kanoodle builds on displaying ads on relevant,
and worthwhile search engines, literary content, and
customers before potential, by discovering more about
how they search the Internet. Kanoodle's network is
also very large, but is based mainly on media outlets
over the Internet, although other content does breakthrough,
and since Kanoodle has great potential, it will assuredly
be building up its network of outlets. Right now,
the distribution is spread over such sites as, CNet's
search.com, Kanoodle of course, CBS MarketWatch, AutoBytel.com,
USAToday.com, Dogpile, MSNBC.com, and Webcrawler,
among many other websites, though these are the more
well known.
To get more information on the PPC Advertising programs
offered by these three web companies, visit their
websites. Some require fees to start, and some do
not, although they may be more or less complicated
than some other you might have used in the past. Many
other PPC advertising programs are available on the
web; these are not an advertisers only choices. One
should never feel pressured to choose a certain company,
if it does not fit their advertising needs; don't
be afraid to shop around.
